I met Dr. Ramgopal while a patient in Baptist Hospital suffering from a Staph Infection (Original variety, not MRSA) in ...a surgical area of my lower spine. I had undergone a 3 level fusion and upon awakening found that I had lost, at least temporarily, partial use of my left leg. While it was believed to be caused by the accidental touching of the nerves during the surgery while cleaning heavily accumulated arthritis from the area, physical therapy had not improved my situation after a week. I was then sent to a rehab hospital for more PT, and did well for a couple of days. One morning after lunch my roommate noticed a large wet area on the back of my shirt. What we realized was that something had oozed from my wound during the night and was soaked up in the foam mattress. I finally was released after a couple of days and the 1st 2 at home were great, then the next 2, I know now, were spent fighting for my life. My doctor realized I had a severe case of Staph and sent me straight to the hospital where he immediately brought Dr. Ramgopal on board since he was known to be the top Disease Doc in OK. Although he went to work immediately, the infection had gotten into my blood stream and ended up in my ankle with the fear it would settle into my heart. My surgeon told me he didn't know if I was going to make it, or if I did, it would probably mean losing my left leg. But Dr. Ramgopal, after reading some very recently released medical research opted to add a second antibiotic to the true gold approach he already had in play, and within 48 hrs, I was on my way to recovery. He truly saved my life when everyone else was preparing my eulogy. His field of medicine is highly serious and I couldn't recommend anyone better! more details
