I estimate that I have been a patient of Dr. Megan Jhaver’s for at least five years. I find her to be a competent, k...nowledgeable physician. For the most part, I have been pleased with her services. I did have two concerns, but overlooked them as finding a new physician can be a laborious endeavor. First, when my asthma flared to a serious level, I tried to make a timely appointment. I was asked if I had visited the emergency room since my last appointment. I was truthful, even though the visit was three months in the past. I was told I could not make an appointment until I obtained a report for the emergency room. When I told the receptionist that I needed care immediately and would obtain the report in the near future, she told me they would not see me without the report. She said I could always go to the emergency room to obtain the prednisone prescription I needed, but I could not make an appointment to see either Dr. Jhaver or her PA. ( I wondered why I even had a personal physician and chafed at the thought of the price differential. Although, I would incur no added expense personally, the service is not free.). I visited the emergency room and made sure they sent a report to Dr. Jhaver for future needs. My second irritation resulted when I inadvertently missed an appointment made by the office three months in advance. I was scheduled to have major colon surgery and was in a fogged state in anticipation and failed to consult my phone for messages. A week into a difficult recovery, I received a bill for one hundred dollars for the missed appointment. I objected and was told that policy was policy. When I refused to pay and indicated I would find another physician, they reneged and said they would take off the charge this one time. In the previous five years I had never missed an appointment. Recently, I was scheduled to have cataract surgery and the surgeon asked for a letter stating I was fit to undergo twilight sedation from Dr. Jhaver, my primary physician. Since I had been in for my physical on the 8th and I was making this request on the 15th, I assumed the office would simply fax over the letter. No,I was required to come in for another appointment or they would not send a letter. Upon hearing this I was annoyed as it necessitated the cancellation of previous events and commitments. (I was not required to make an appointment a year earlier when I was slated to go under general anesthesia for a six hour surgery.) I felt that this was unnecessary and commented to the receptionist , (unwisely on reflection), that this mandate was a “money making venture”. When I visited the next day, I mentioned to the nurse’s aide that my blood pressure might be on the high side as I was anxious about the upcoming surgery and annoyed that I was required to make an additional appointment. Carri, the nurse practitioner, entered and immediately dressed me down for my attitude in a supercilious manner and told me that after thirty days I would need to find another primary care physician. I was astounded at her hostility and replied, “ I guess if one has an opinion that differs from your’s, you just take your ball and go home.” She then told me that they did not need, or want, my business. She did agree to send the letter to the surgeon. I felt that after five years of being a “good” patient, I deserved a degree of professional understanding. She might have explained,in a neutral tone, not an intensely confrontational speech, why the appointment was necessary. She noted that her words were Dr. Jhaver’s, although Dr. Jhaver failed to make an appearance. So, be cautious if you are looking for a long range relationship with a physician, you may find that one ill conceived comment will send you walking. Dr. Jhaver did not lose one patient that day, she lost four and referrals are not in the forecast. more details
I look forward to seeing the staff at Infinity Internal Medicine. Everyone has treated me with respect. My appointment... is taken in a timely manner. Dr. Jhaver or the PA are thorough in their questions and take the time to answer questions I may have. I have been seeing Dr. Jhaver for about 4 years. Dr. Jhaver was recommended to me by a person who also has been seeing her for quite some time. more details
Don't be 5 min. late. My husband made a 3:30P.M. appt. for me a few days ago. I arrived at 3:35P.M. according to the n...urse. They took my co-pay, my vitals and led me to a room until 4:05P.M. Then the nurse came in and said they "tried to fit me in" but Dr. Jhaver was too busy. I would have to reschedule. I have been a patient for a few years along with my family. I have been sick for over a week and this was my only day off. They would not let me talk to the doctor. I started to cry. I work outside and have been feeling lightheaded and exhuasted. They didn't care. I was told I should have been there 5-10 min. early. Their own paperwork states 10 min. late and you forfeit your appt., NOT FIVE. The nurse made me feel embarrassed and belittled. more details
