Miscellaneous Facility Information
Memorial Hospital has been a cornerstone of the Colorado Springs community for more than a century. A leading health care provider. One of the city's largest employers. An unparalleled community partner. Owned by the city, we provide outstanding health care to all, yet receive no financial support or tax subsidies from the city. From humble beginnings in 1904 as a small hospital, today we stand as a world-class health care system. To reflect this growth, Memorial Hospital changed its name to Memorial Health System. From the early years when we were a leader in tuberculosis treatment to more recently when we established southern Colorado's only children's hospital, Memorial continues to grow to meet the ever changing health care needs of our community. We have more than a dozen facilities throughout El Paso and Teller Counties; 477 beds. And, we provide outreach efforts to rural communities throughout our state and beyond. In 2007, we'll open the first new hospital in Colorado Springs in two decades: Memorial Hospital North. Our campus on Boulder Street is now known as Memorial Hospital Central. |

Foundation Information
The mission of the Memorial Health System Foundation is to provide philanthropic resources to assist Memorial Hospital in its efforts to optimize the health, safety and comfort of its patients, families and the community. The system provides comprehensive health care services with centers of excellence in cardiac care, cancer treatment, emergency and trauma services, women's/maternal services, infant and pediatric care, and rehabilitation. The system is a regional referral for high-risk obstetrics, neonatal and pediatric care and provides southern Colorado with its only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Philanthropic support is being sought by Memorial Health System Foundation for capital projects, health care programs and services, and endowment purposes. More specifically, we are seeking funds to help support the construction of a new children's, women's and emergency service addition to Memorial Hospital Central between 2004 and 2006. We are also seeking additional support for the construction of Memorial Hospital North, an 85-bed hospital to be located in the fastest growing part of El Paso county. The building campaign will be the top priority of the Memorial Health System Foundation over the next several years. |
