On Site Guest Services
Pastoral Care The Rev. Larry Pope is the chaplain/patient representative at Charlotte Regional Medical Center. He is the spiritual and ethical advocate for our patients and their families. The goal of the chaplain/patient representative is to help meet the spiritual and emotional needs of patients and their families. Each patient is given a survey on which they can indicate their religious and/or spiritual preferences. They may request that Rev. Pope call their regular minister or that he administer prayer at any time during their stay. Rev. Pope does not take the place of the patient's minister, but seeks to enhance spiritual nurturing whenever needed. Prayers and scripture readings are offered when appropriate. The chaplain/patient representative makes rounds to the waiting rooms to update family members on the progress of procedures, provide an estimated time of completion and other important information concerning their loved one. He also responds to requests from patients for assistance with questions or concerns they may have about their care while in the hospital, including the patient's rights and responsibilities. A complete list of patient rights and responsibilities also can be found in our Patient and Visitor Guide. The chaplain's office is located in the Support Services building across Cooper Street from the main hospital building. His office phone number is 941-637-2401. If he is unavailable at the office phone number, please call his cell phone at 941-456-1487. |
