Teaching Programs
Unity Health System's educational mission is nowhere more obvious than in the Department of Medicine, which boasts a 41 resident Internal Medicine Residency Program. Our residents care for both acutely ill adults and complex Internal Medicine outpatients, while implementing the strategies that maintain health and prevent disease. In our residency program, we assure each trainee's competence in: Up-to-date patient care skills and medical knowledge; The latest techniques in patient/physician communication; The optimal utilization of health care resources - The critical appraisal of the core literature in Internal Medicine; The delivery of care that is professional and humanistic and recognizes the value of each person. The Hospital enjoys a close relationship with the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. The General Medicine Unit faculty, and many of the key teaching faculty have University teaching appointments, holding ranks from instructor to full professor. |

Other Education and Training
Unity Health System encourages employees to realize and achieve their goals by providing tuition reimbursement and scholarship opportunities for enhanced education; Unity partners with several local nursing schools to provide clinical experiences and classroom sites for traditional and accelerated nursing programs; A Nursing Internship Program is offered during the summer months to help further prepare students for entry into a nursing career; All nurses hired into Unity with less than 2 years of experience are offered an additional 12 months of continuing education to build on their educational foundation and help with the transition from novice to expert; Additional clinical and career development classes including leadership, teambuilding, Fish!, communication, etc. are offered on an on-going basis. |

Foundation Information
Building on a 20-year history of charitable giving in Rochester and western Monroe County, St. Mary's Foundation and Park Ridge Foundation successfully united as Unity Health Foundation in August 2001. The tax-exempt, not-for-profit Unity Health Foundation develops financial support for Unity Health System's programs, services, and related community needs. Unity Health Foundation supports the ability of Unity Health System to fulfill its mission by actively encouraging charitable support and providing responsible management of its assets. |
Community Outreach & Activites
Unity Health System offers many community-based outreach programs for vulnerable and at-risk residents in the communities we serve. All of our services are provided in a cating and compassionate manner. These programs provide a variety of services to indivudals including primary health and dental care, referrals, education, nutrition counseling, prenatal services, job training, and housing.
