Mission of Northeast Georgia Medical Center
Northeast Georgia Health System is a not-for-profit community health system dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of the people of Northeast Georgia. We are committed to improving the health of our community in all we do. The Health System offers a full range of healthcare services through Northeast Georgia Medical Center, which is accredited by Joint Commission, two long-term care centers and a mental health and substance abuse treatment center. This comprehensive approach ensures Northeast Georgia residents have access to exceptional health care close to home. Led by volunteer boards made up of community leaders, the 461-inpatient, 261-skilled nursing bed Health System serves almost 700,000 people in more than 13 counties across Northeast Georgia. All revenue generated above operating expenses is returned to the community through improved services and new programs. Extending the health system s reach into the communities it serves are outlying facilities including primary care offices; outpatient rehabilitation centers offering physical, occupational and speech therapy; and a satellite cancer treatment center as well as in-home services such as hospice and Lifeline, a personal emergency response system. In 2001, NGHS celebrated our 50th year of serving northeast Georgia. |

Volunteer Information
Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Health System volunteers and Auxilians are people of all ages who give of themselves to make a difference in the lives of others. Volunteering can help you make new friends and feel connected. You will have the opportunity to use familiar skills and learn new ones through volunteer orientation and training programs, such as First Steps, Hospice and Mended Hearts. Volunteering also is a great opportunity to explore career options for teenagers, college students or anyone thinking of returning to school or the workplace. Volunteers significantly add to the quality of care by assisting with non-medical needs of patients, family members and visitors. As a volunteer, you give of your time and energy and, most of all, your heart. For more information or to request a volunteer application and interview, call the Volunteer Services Department at Northeast Georgia Medical Center at 770/535-3394. |
