Acute disorders of cerebral circulation are secondary diseases in relation to the existing lesion cerebral vascular or cardiovascular system. The most common causes acute cerebrovascular accident may be considered hypertonic illness, atherosclerosis, and combinations thereof.
Less commonly strokes may occur against the backdrop of vasculitis of various etiologies (syphilitic, infectious-allergic), systemic connective tissue diseases (systemic lupus erythematosus, periarteritis nodosa), heart disease (heart disease, mitral valve prolapse, bacterial endocarditis, myocardial infarction, arrhythmias), and congenital malformations of cerebral vessels (aneurysm, congenital stenosis and occlusion) at systemic blood diseases (leukemia, erythremia, coagulopathy).

Diseases of pathological condition, that lead to violations of circulation:
- Atherosclerosis;
- Hypertonic disease;
- Combination of atherosclerosis and hypertension;
- Symptomatic arterial hypertension;
- Vegetative dystonia syndrome, accompanied by fluctuations of blood pressure and the tone of the vascular wall;
- Hypotension;
- Pathology of heart and a violation of his activity (heart disease, endocarditis, strokes on the background of surgery, heart rhythm disturbances, heart aneurysm);
- Abnormalities of the cardiovascular system;
- Vasculitis;
- Toxic vascular lesions of the brain;
- Traumatic brain vessels, bruising and bleeding;
- Compression of the arteries and veins of bone formation, compression of the tumor;
- Blood diseases, and violation of its clotting (leukemia, polycythemia, thrombocytopathy, hemophilia);
- Endocrine diseases (diabetes, thyrotoxicosis).
