Pharmacist - is a medical specialist who is engaged in research, preparation and implementation of medicines. It is the second man after a doctor to whom we appeal when we have a health problem. The pharmacist must know, how acts a drug, what are the contraindications.
Most of pharmacists work in pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies, enterprises for the production of drugs, in the laboratory.
Pharmacists possess the system knowledge in the following areas:
- Pharmacotherapy;
- Pharmacology;
- Pharmaceutical Chemistry;
- Pharmacy technology of medicamental preparations.
The pharmacist must know medications, their component parts, techniques for their preparation and production, the side effects, and their use in order to prevent the disease and during treatment. He must be able to assess the quality of medicines (physical and chemical methods), known herbal medicines and their active ingredients and usage.
The main duties of the Pharmacist
- Spreading, storage of goods;
- Vacation medicines;
- Advise visitors about the pharmacological properties of drugs prescribed by a physician, the possible side effects and contraindications;
- Advising the visitors in the part the correct and safe reception of medicines;
- Quality control of medicines, supplied by the pharmacy;
- Consideration and testing recipes;
- Preparation of medicamental preparations;
- The development of new drugs;
- Improvement of medicamentous means;
- Work on the preparation technology of medicines.
