Dr. D. provided very poor care for my father's throat cancer (a term that was never used with my dad from Dr. D.). Dad'...s tumor burst through his neck before he even started seeing Dr. D, and Dr. D never would look at his neck (the actual cancer). He couldn't stomach it. My dad didn't realize that this should have been a huge indicator that he wasn't qualified to treat this sort of cancer. Dr. D. should have told my father he wasn't qualified, but he didn't. Dad was responding extremely well to chemo, but it was stopped when he developed an infection in his knee. Dr. D. continually told dad and my sister and me there was nothing he could do for the cancer until the knee doc released him. It was the knee doc who finally suggested that they should hold off on the knee and treat the cancer, but Dr. D. still didn't do anything. When we finally got dad in to see an oncology practice in Louisville, they were completely horrified at the treatment dad had received and at his neck wound, which Dr. D. just the week before continued to tell dad he could do nothing about. It was obvious to the Louisville cancer doctors that my dad had been treated negligently. They said that the cancer shouldn't have been ignored while the knee infection was being treated. However, it was too late by then. Dad only lived a little over a week after we brought him to Louisville. His trust in Dr. D. cost him his life, and he greatly regretted ignoring mine and my sister's pleas for him to get a second opinion from a doctor in Louisville from the beginning. I hope this helps at least one person to not have to live with the regrets that my sister and I have.more details
