Dr. William C Ryan, MD

I was sent to Dr Ryan by Social Security to be reviewed for a disability claim. He was absolutely the worst psychiatrist... I have ever seen. From the very beginning of our session he was rude, harsh and demeaning. He told me I was a failure because I couldn’t even commit suicide properly, then proceeded to tell me that if I had truly wanted to die, I should have chugged an entire bottle of whiskey and then taken the whole bottle of pills I had used in my previous attempt. He said that I had only wanted some attention. I did not finish the hour interview with him as I ran out of his office in tears. I can’t even describe how totally devastated and humiliated I felt. I told the therapist that I was seeing on a regular basis what had taken place at Dr Ryan’s “exam”, and he reported him to the appropriate board that oversees doctors of psychiatry. I don’t know what happened as a result of that report, but he is obviously still working as a psychiatrist, which I find frightening and dangerous for the poor people who go to see him, whether by choice, or, as in my case, are sent to him by a third party for a psychiatric review.
