She was in the onset of GBS. On the 27th we returned to see Dr. Kaale, who diagnosis was a urinary tract infection. She ...made it clear there was no burning during urination. She had now gone numb from her feet to her thighs. Her life was saved at TCH downtown, where she was admitted to PICU before her heart and lungs stop due to becoming paralyzed. A call to her uncle, who is a physician, diagnosed her OVER the telephone and told us to get to Children's. Her hospitalization and therapies took a year, outpatient another year. IF Dr. Piccone and Dr. Kaale, had done THEIR jobs, and started IVIG and plasma exchange immediately; she would have recovered within weeks.
While we were at Children’s hospital, the staff had nothing nice to say regarding Dr. Kaale or Dr. Piccone reputations. It was also made clear, by the visiting Physicians from the Medical school, surrounding hospitals and other department heads, if they had admitted her to St. John’s through there ER visit she more than likely would have died due to GROSS NEGLIGENCE and misdiagnosis. Many people die each year to GBS…these two should not be practicing medicine. more details
