Dr. Rhea N Mehra, MD

I arrived fifteen minutes early for my first appointment, was stuck waiting for over an hour until she finally called fo...r me. I checked in at the front desk and checked in with them every ten minutes, until the sixth time I checked in with them, they got annoyed with me and said that she does that to everyone and only sees patients when she feels like it. The receptionist seemed to genuinely dislike the psychiatrist and made that dislike known to me. When she did finally come out to get me, she gave me all of eight minutes of her time as a first patient. She asked me a few questions about my medical and psychiatric history, and didn't even take any notes. She never looked me in the eyes and was cold and unfriendly throughout the very short first meeting. She seemed annoyed that I was wasting her time and when she finally did come and get me, complained that she didn't have time to see me and I would have to reschedule for some other time. I was somewhat agitated when I came into the appointment already, because I had been making the appointment for my lunch break, but after a five minute commute and an hour's wait in the waiting room, my lunch break was basically over, before she had even poked her head out of her office to see that I had been waiting for her, and her horrible bedside manner made my agitation far worse. Anyway, long story short, I received an email an hour later, saying that I wasn't "the type of patient she was looking for." I don't know if she meant that she doesn't like working with Black patients or if she doesn't like working with depressed patients or if she doesn't like working with patients who complain when she is an hour late or if she doesn't like working with living breathing humans (I suspect the final answer is the correct one).

This was one of the most frustrating, aggravating experience I've ever had. This experience made me so agitated and angry and drove me close to suicide. I have never made a colder, more uncaring and unkind individual in my life. I have no idea what brought her into this profession, because I can only see her bringing harm to the humans with whom she comes into contact. She would be better off working in a mortuary. The doctor herself is kind of brusque, uninterested and cold and not at all interested in discussion - the visit is enti...rely her writing a prescription and shooing you out of the office. That said, it is her completely incompetent staff that made me finally leave (there IS no on-site office staff, just someone who sounds like they're working from home). No call ahead of time. They have my records confused with someone else (who cannot have the same name as mine and certainly doesn't have the same ssn or dob). They don't publicize their phone numbers and so you can only contact them via email, which isn't always answered. They can't figure out how to electronically submit my medical charges to insurance but ALLLL my other doctors and health care providers (and there are many) seem to be able to do this with no problem.
