If you want good health care from a compassionate staff, high quality service and knowledgeable personnel, THEN AVOID TH...IS DOCTOR LIKE THE PLAGUE! Dr. Allen and his staff are incapable of communicating clearly with patients. They are slow, inconsiderate, unprofessional and unapologetic. It took me 3 days and 4 phone calls to get a two week follow-up appointment after an ER visit where Dr. Allen placed a urethral stent and then it was scheduled 4 weeks out. It took me 5 phone calls and 6 days to get a prescription refill for pain. By the time I got the prescription I was without of meds for 4 days. Lost tons of sleep because of it and could only work half days until the pain became too much. Lithotripsy was needed to blast the stone. The office staff told me that the scheduling delays for the procedure was because they were waiting on approval from the insurance company. 5 days later I called the doctor’s office only to find out they had just submitted the paperwork to the insurance that day. Waited 5 more days and called them again. They said they were still waiting on the insurance, so I called the insurance company to see if I could get them to move on this and they had no record of the request. At that point the insurance company came to bat for me and called the doctor to have the procedure scheduled. The insurance company said that the doctor’s office lied to me, because outpatient surgery does not require preauthorization from the insurance. Finally got it scheduled, went to pre-op only to learn that Dr. Allen had the wrong orders on the paper work that was sent to the hospital. They were going to treat me for the wrong thing! This doctor has now left a urethral stent in place for 9 weeks, told me it was going to be removed when the stone was blasted and then he left the stent in. When I shared my concerns with him, he sent me a letter terminating the relationship, leaving me with a stent and no way of having it removed. Now I have to find a new doctor to remove the stent, adding additional painful delays. This doctor should be fined and severely reprimanded. more details
