Dr. Prafulla K Koneru, MD

Dr. Koneru has been my doctor since I was 19. She is an extraordinary doctor who I have recommended often to friends and... family. Once, 20+ years ago, I had a mammogram that dictated I needed a biopsy. At age 52 I now know that a biopsy is a routine precaution when necessary, but when I was younger, I was devastated. I was so upset, Dr. Koneru offered to meet me at the hospital and hold my hand while I had it done. THAT is how compassionate she is. I put on my big-girl pants and didn't take her up on it, but the mere fact that she offered it gave me more strength than I knew I had. (All was fine, BTW.) I have been with her through exploratory surgery, infertility and now perimenopause. When I go to her office, I always have to wait -- sometimes an hour past my appointed time. But I know that the person in the office is getting the same level of attention I'll get when I go in. I just bring my reading material, and I thank God that I was blessed enough to become her patient in 1980. She never rushes, she listens, she's very frank, and she makes me feel cared for. And she makes phone calls herself. I have never spoken to a nurse when Dr. Koneru has something private to share with me. I trust her with my life, and I have NEVER found a better doctor! more details
