Dr. Paul N Houston, MD works in Brazil, Indiana is a specialist in Family Practice and graduated Comm Hosps Of Indianapolis. Dr. Houstonand practicing for 43 years
Although Dr Houston himself and his nursing staff appear to be competent, it is the patient care aspect of his office th...at horribly fails on several aspects. First, the office will not accept prescription refill calls from the patients pharmacy. Even though most pharmacies keep track of the refills for the patient for convenience the office of Dr Houston will only take calls from the patient themselves. For caregivers that is a huge inconvenience and results in poor patient care as the office hours to call in are also very inconvenient and seem to change weekly. Second, when I called the office to communicate with the Dr. on a very serious medical complication the arose from a prescription that was administered to my charg, I was refused. I asked for a call back from the Dr., no call. Seriously, what if the serious side effects the patient was having was not due to the drug? Third and foremost, one of the biggest problems that office has is with “Pam” the office manger/secretary. She is unprofessional, rude, and very condescending. All communication with this person is a chore as she is too lazy to do anything even in the realm proper customer service. 75% of time when a call is made to the office during normal business hours it is either closed or a message tells you to call back later. Would it be so difficult to allow the opportunity for the caller to leave a message for a call back. No opportunity is given, again, another example of poor patient care and laziness. When you do finally “get through” to request a refill on medication she gets huffy and rude and wants you to give her the milligrams and times daily for the dosages. Then still wants the phone number for the pharmacy, the same pharmacy that has been called by them many many times in the past months. Should not someone be reviewing a chart? Really? Why is it this hard to get things accomplished through this office? Maybe if the office were to accept calls from other pharmacy medical professionals this would not be an issue. more details
