I believe that I am entitled to excellence in healthcare not based on how much I or my insurance can pay, but because I ...am a human being. What does excellence mean to me? It means that a medical professional who holds the power of life and death over me will do absolutely everything in their power to give me their best possible healthcare. That applies to all medical professionals as any medical mistake can lead to a very poor outcome. Having someone take my pulse who cannot detect a rapid pulse is not excellence. Having to wait eight days to have a prescription filled is not excellence. Having a nurse practitioner tell me that a medication is not available due to flu season when that medication is not used to treat the flu or its complications is not excellence. Having a nurse practitioner tell me that the physician who has practiced in the area for many years does not know any pulmonologists is not excellence. I was dropped from the practice because I complained. more details
