This is not going to be a good story. Dr. Daniel J. Para is a very tough pill to swallow.

Dr. Para was paid f...or 2 surgeries-the first was to remove a colon mass and to repair a hernia. He severed nerves which left me PERMANENTLY sexually sterile. As if that's not bad enough, he did more damage. Prior God-given erogenous zones on my body are now permanently deadened. He ruined my sex life. I have engaged two urologists for their evaluations. They confirmed the worst. The nerve damage I suffered is irreversible. No surgery will return me. I was a 100% perfectly healthy sexually functioning male before Dr Para's surgery. I will never be a father.

Dr Para's #2 surgery went equally wrong. He was paid to install a port in my chest so I could begin chemotherapy treatment. This is a kindergarten level procedure for surgeons. Often the port is installed in the AM and the chemo begins that same afternoon. Five days later I was home moaning in pain, nor could I lean over to my right (the port side) to touch the floor without cursing in pain. At the chemo clinic for treatment, Dr Para's port didnt function. Did he bother to flush the port at the hospital before discharging me? The oncologist office tried everything they could for 2-3 hours before finally giving up and sending me home. The oncologist instructed me to get a port dye test done to check for placement and patency. I got two evaluations done-one from the chief radiologist at a Phoenix hospital and one from Phoenix' most respected cancer surgeon. Weeks apart, they looked at the chest port and the first words out of their mouths were exactly identical: "Who put this port in?" I said Daniel Para did. The chief radiologist said the port wouldnt work because it was placed roughly 3.5-4.0 inches below where it should have been. Dr Para missed my chest. He placed it in breast tissue. As a result of faulty placement, the catheter was hung up in tissue and the dye test showed fluid went in the opposite direction from where the cancer cells were located. The port was entirely worthless and had to be removed and begin over again-this time properly installed 3.5-4 inches above Para's misplaced cut. I changed to a reliable surgeon and the new port has been in my chest painlessly and is functioning perfectly. My chemo treatments are now underway.

Now that my surgeries with Dr Para are concluded, I have made 4 or 5 telephone phone calls to him in the last two weeks to schedule a 30 minute consultation and discuss things. He refuses any follow up with me, which literally adds insult to injury. This is unprofessional behavior. Patient loyalty means nothing to Dr Para. Surgery money does. So I write this review describing my Dr Para experience on the internet and I am filing a complaint against him with the Medical Board of Arizona (MBA) for review. Despite Dr. Para's mistakes, had he simply manned up and agreed to a paid consultation with me, we could have had a meeting of the minds. He had 5 attempts and never returned calls. He avoids me.

Very Interestingly, the last thing Dr. Para said to me just prior to Surgery #1 (colon mass removal) was: "This isnt just going to be a challenge for you, this is going to be a challenge for me too." Huh? Who is Dignity Health assigning to me? A surgeon who is in way over his head? If my colon surgery needed a specially-skilled surgeon to avoid causing collateral damage and severing nerves, Daniel Para is not that surgeon. But he made it a point upon my hospital discharge that he expected me to follow up with my insurance co because "he would like to get paid."

Finally, my colon works and the hernia is repaired. I am alive. At what expense? His surgical errors permanently leaves me without a normal sex life. He took my manhood. And his badly missing the mark on his placement of the chemo chest port which rendered it 100% non-functioning leaves me speechless.

I hope my words can help someone from going through the same thing I did.

Dr Para put me through hell and back. I could use a break.

In order to move on, I suppose my challenge is to accept Dr Para's surgical limitations and forgive him for his mistakes in his surgeries and uncaring handling. And also Dignity Health for assigning him to me. This is no easy task. God please help me forgive Dr Daniel Para.
