I know all doctors have access to a Physicians’ Desk Reference (PDR, however apparently he doesn't use his. I have be...en on an SSRI/anti-depressant 11 months and he is/was aware of this. I just transferred to him from another doctor looking for better medical care (not dr. shopping). He prescribed me Tramadol for my sciatica. When I go to pick up my prescription the pharmacist warns me that a severe interaction can occur between Tramadol and Paxil. I ask her to call Dr. Blackadar, she does and comes back and tells me that he said "Doctor's Orders." I spent the next 48 hours in Hell. I only had two doses of which were 100mgs a piece (just like the doctor ordered.) I immediately went into see him only to find out he was on a four day extended weekend. I had to see one his fellow doctors, in the same practice which is Anacortes Family Medicine. I was suffering from all the symptoms of Serotonin Syndrome. Serotonin levels rise and can it can be fatal. My blood pressure was dangerously high, I was agitated, and at that point I had no sleep for 36 hours (I had no desire to sleep and could not even if I wanted to.) Dr. Blackadar's fellow physician ordered me a shot of Toradol and then allowed me to drive on it. I wasn't asked if I had anyone to take me home nor was I told of its side effects. I suffered for another 24 hours before sleep finally came. When it did I crashed.
On Monday I was the first person at Anacortes Family Medicine, at 8am. Dr. Blackadar finally saw me at 915 am. He acted bothered that I had had a reaction to Tramadol. He just asked if I had stopped taking care of it. I had kept a log of everything I had gone through and he never even looked at it. I had to beg for pain relief of which he says, "I am not going to be the one to get you addicted to codeine." Everything I told him about my reaction he just blew me off with a smirk on his face. He is an uncaring individual who is also incompetent. He has never ordered a MRI or even an X-Ray for my back. So after only one week as his patient, I am leaving with my life. more details
