If I were you or if I could do it over, I would not spend time or money with this counselor. While she seems to be a nic...e person, she will waste your time. Out of 8 sessions there were only the first and one other session where she was engaged in real conversation with me. I filled out a daily log and spent thoughtful time doing it and she would only briefly look at it. She made a comment it was too small to read. When I asked if I should change the format myself (since it was their form they gave me) she said no. There were even sessions she didn't look at it. In addition, instead of having meaningful sessions, she put me in a group therapy and wasted an opportunity to help me while on medical leave through a severe depression. I very much feel more sessions should have been given to me during this time so that I was better prepared to go back to a stressful work environment while dealing with the stress of a personal loss. Her answer to me when I brought this up was to get a different job (because in these times it's that simple!). Actually it is her that should get another job away from people who are vulnerable and needing truly caring cognitive therapy for depression and anxiety. You are better off buying a yoga tape on breathing, and The Secret or a book by Wayne Dyer as you will get more out if those than 8 sessions with Barbara. I'm sure many counselors purposefully do this you to continue billing you copays and your insurance. Also, the the office staff is very loud and not that friendly.more details
