Alan H Homestead, OD works in Seattle, Washington is a specialist in Optometry.
Dr. Homestead was VERY nice. I was originally impressed with the place. Well, about six weeks after receiving my glass...es, the frames broke. The metal had a stress point and gave way. My glasses were replaced in about a week - no problem - very inconvenient to get to the store for me, as I live on Vashon, but, no big deal. I get my new glasses and, in about the same amount of time, they break again in the same spot. I take them back in, and the woman at the desk, Jan, asks me what do I want to do? I tell her that I just want glasses that don't break. We order a third pair.
I'm going to point out, here, that I am blind as a bat without my glasses, and that my back-up pair are an old prescription that gives me bad headaches after about four days. I tell Jan this, and so assures me that just as soon as my glasses come in, I will get a call from her. I call back in a week - she says "they're not here yet." I call back in two days, she still says that they aren't there. Then, I get a phone call about 15 minutes later. It is Jan, she is "so sorry" but, somehow, she didn't notice my glasses when they came in three days previously!
About a month after getting this pair, same break, same spot. I bring them in. Jan is not happy that I have again, broken my glasses - which are actually very faulty - I don't ever go through glasses like this, yet alone the same break in the same spot three times. She tells me to look around, but she'll have to talk to the doctor to see how much of a "partial credit" that I receive. I wait for the doctor. When he comes out, he is so nice, and so apologetic. He says to Jan "I hope that you have been apologizing up and down to him. This is absolutely embarrassing!" He goes on to say that OF COURSE I will receive full credit, and that I just need to pick another pair out, and we will adjust the cost up or down. He goes back with a patient and I find new frames. When I bring them up to Jan, she tells me that although the doctor thinks that I should get a full credit, I will have to pay for new lenses since they can't re-use the ones that I have. Rather than arguing with her, I just wait --again!-- for the doctor to come out, another 1/2 hour or so, and he OF COURSE tells us that I do NOT need to pay for my lenses a second time.
The frames that I pick out as my number one choice? Jan doesn't want to order them for me because they are not warrantied, and she tells me that as hard as I am on glasses, it's not the right choice. She is rude and condescending, still blaming me for their faulty product. I order my second choice, she says that they will probably be ready by Wednesday. I call on Tuesday, just in case, since I have to be in the area, she says they are not in, but that they are on the way, and will be her by Thursday. She says that she will call. Today is Friday, I have not received a call, so I call them. Closed Friday through Sunday. Another weekend with a bad headache, while my glasses are possibly sitting in a drawer at a doctors office. more details
