Rude and horrible doctor
My kid has been a patient of Dr. Shakir's since Dec 2009.
Within the first fe...w years, she started experiencing medical issues that I complained about to the Dr. She tested her and said that she didn't find anything. I requested that she refer us to a neurologist, GI specialist and Ortho doctor. She was diagnosed with seizures, GI issues and scoliosis and wears a back brace. These are all things that I discovered on my own and had doctors confirm.
I mentioned her medical issues with Dr. Shakir in a visit. She accused me of having munchousen syndrome and told me that my baby needed to see a child psychiatrist. I was appalled and told her that she had been seen by all 3 specialist, and was diagnosed. She informed me that no records had been sent to her office. I requested that all of the doctors fax her records. She apologized and we continued as a patient, only because she had such extensive medical records there.
Last week, I requested her do a complete CBC panel to check her Vitamin D count which has been low before and she had to take RX vitamin D. The symptoms she was experiencing resembled this. After 72 hrs, I called for the results and was advised by her that everything was normal, rushing me off of the phone. Then said, that her lymphocytes level looks low, it's 1158. The normal range is 3,000-9,500 for children. I asked, so what should we do. She said she wouldn't worry about it. I asked if we could repeat the test in 4 weeks. She informed me that she would speak to a hematologist and get back to me. We had a scheduled visit for 12/30/21 at 9:30. It was canceled the morning of because the doctor had to have a mri. I asked the nurse to please have the doctor call me about what she found out. She called and informed me that the doctor said that she spoke with a hematologists who informed her we don't need to retest and that her low level is normal for kids with her chronic issues and medications. I asked her for a second opinion, because the low level and her always being extremely tired. She said that she told me what he said I can talk to him. I told her I would like a second opinion. This woman told me that she's tired of this and that maybe I should find another doctor. I told her that's exactly what I plan on doing as well as making a complaint with the medical board.
It was convenient to go there because there never a wait. Now, I see why. It's because no one goes there. She's always rushed, short tempered nonchalant and cocky, and interrupts you when you're talking.
Her staff is very professional and friendly. I could imagine how she treats them. She got my last $. more details
